Apply today!The Assistant General CounselEnterprise bridges the gap between complex legal and risk considerations and creative, pragmatic and customer-oriented solutions. Reporting to executive leadership and supporting the Board of Directors, you will lead a dedicated corporate legal team with a customer-first philosophy. This role leads major cross functional initiatives that strengthen operational performance and improve the experience for injured workers, employers, and partners across the Workers Compensation system. In this position you will be a key organizational strategist, manage MSFs legislative and regulatory efforts and serve a trusted advisor to the executive team. At its core, this role is about executing with intentionality and curiosity to deliver for MSFs customers, and leading others to do the same.
$120,400.00/yr - $150,600.00/yr
Leads the corporate legal team by managing staff across procurement, insurance services, and government relations while driving departmental performance through the design and implementation of clear metrics. Cultivates a high-performance culture by managing engagement and customer mindset, and integrates legal operations with the broader organization by assisting with enterprise planning and executive quarterly preparations. Acts as the primary point of contact for internal audits and ensures that all functions align with the legal departments strategic goals.
Executes the legislative session program by coordinating internal resources, managing communications, and driving the execution of the organizations lobbying agenda. Designs and oversees a rigorous off-season statutory program to identify, vet, and prioritize potential regulatory changes within the Workers' Compensation system. Develops claims and underwriting procedures, manages regulatory complaints, and provides specialized support to internal stakeholders to ensure the organization remains ahead of legal changes.
Owns the end-to-end Board program by planning agendas, organizing presenters, and overseeing meeting execution. Advises the CEO and executive leadership on ethics, stakeholder relations, and business strategy while serving as a primary strategist for the General Counsel. Delivers comprehensive policy training and maintains the integrity of the organizations governance processes through consistent oversight and strategic foresight.
Directs a diverse portfolio of high-priority enterprise projects. Partners with executive leadership to develop and implement long-term legal and government relations strategies that protect the organizations interests. Monitors industry trends and translates complex legal requirements into actionable business initiatives that drive organizational growth and maximize the customer experience.
This position requires regular presence in the Helena, MT office.
Fast paced general office environment. Some stress may occur. Regular travel not expected but may occur occasionally around organizational specific events or during the course of employment. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity, detailed verbal communications and fine finger manipulation for working with computer keyboards.
Pay range LDR. Starting salary for this exempt position begins at $120,400 - $150,600.
