Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing all aspects grocery department operations, to include but not limited to ordering, stocking, merchandising, and customer service.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms all store managerial duties in the absence of the store directorLeads, coaches, teaches, and reinforces Super 1 Foods culture, customer service, and performance expectations to all employees.Trains new grocery employeesEnsures all department standards are being met in the grocery departmentObserves sales floor and back stock conditions; takes action to correct areas of opportunityMaintains appropriate inventory levels and ensures accurate pricing on products received and soldCommunicates and works cooperatively with store director, grocery manager and employees to maintain standards and exceed customer expectationsOversees all sanitation within departmentAssists customers with finding items they are looking for throughout the storeAddresses customer concerns and resolves issues when a customer is not satisfied with the service or product receivedAssists all department employees with daily responsibilities while leading by exampleDevelops assistant department manager and/or department leads to prepare for advancement opportunitiesContributes to overall cleanliness of the department by picking up, organizing, and cleaning work areas, shelving, and sales floor as neededResponsible for OSHA complinace for the storeQUALIFICATIONSGood oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a stressful environmentThorough understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies and OSHA regulationsA high school diploma or GED is required. Assistant store directors must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, basic math skills, basic computer operation skills, as well as the ability to comprehend and interpret basic business-related reportsAssistant store directors should possess the ability and willingness to lead and direct others, be able to identify performance gaps and coach employees through a problem-solving processMust have a strong willingness to learn all aspects of store operations with the goal of one day becoming an effective store directorPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
