Montana Free Press (MTFP), Montanas leading nonprofit, digital-first newsroom, is seeking a full-time Membership Manager to lead and grow the membership programs for both Montana Free Press and Mountain Journal. This role is responsible for strategizing, executing, and optimizing membership fundraising campaigns throughout the year, ensuring strong donor engagement, retention, and growth.The position will manage and maintain the donor databases for both organizations, track and report on membership trends, and execute data-driven membership campaigns to expand and retain supporters. The Membership Manager will work closely with the Community and Events Manager and Development Director to align membership strategies and ensure effective outreach and engagement efforts. This role requires strong organizational and creative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and leverage data to enhance membership growth.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Campaign Development & ExecutionDesign and implement targeted annual membership fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, digital outreach and personalized engagement initiatives.Monitor campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies to improve results.Membership Communications & EngagementCraft compelling membership-related content, including email campaigns, social media messaging and website updates.Develop messaging that effectively communicates the value of membership and strengthens relationships with supporters.Membership Management & Customer ServiceOversee all aspects of membership management, including processing checks and acknowledgments, managing member inboxes and voicemail, fulfilling benefits and maintaining high levels of customer service. Respond to member inquiries, resolve issues and ensure timely and effective communication.Revenue Growth & Goal SettingAssist in developing membership revenue goals and identifying opportunities for growth.Implement strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand membership reach.Data Management & ReportingMaintain and manage Montana Free Presss donor database, ensuring accuracy, segmentation and integrity for effective outreach.Track, analyze, and report on membership performance and trends, providing insights and recommendations to optimize growth strategies.Minimum Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messages for members and donors.Highly organized and detail-oriented, with experience managing projects and campaigns, tracking data, and meeting deadlines.Strong analytical skills, including experience tracking membership trends, segmenting data, and generating reports to inform strategy.Ability to execute and evaluate membership campaigns, including outreach, engagement, and retention efforts.Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams.Proficiency with digital tools and willingness to learn multiple tech platforms, including:Active CampaignWordPressFundraiseUpCanvaGoogle Workspace (specifically Google Sheets)Passion for nonprofit journalism and audience engagement.Compensation: Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise and location, and may vary from the amount above.
