Title: Attorney 1 – Enforcement & Trial (26140944)

Salary: $95,000 – $125,000, depending on experience

Position Type: Full-time

Job Location: CSI's office in Helena, MT, or potential hybrid or remote work depending on circumstances

CSI is a criminal justice agency tasked with protecting Montanans by regulating securities and insurance. It protects Montanans through public education, regulation of covered entities, and vigorous enforcement of the law, ensuring accountability for fraudsters and justice for their victims.

What You'll Do

• Manage cases from referral through final judgment, including drafting pleadings and briefs, and representing CSI at trial.
• Prosecute administrative actions related to insurance and securities fraud and represent CSI in potential appeals.
• Represent CSI in civil litigation.
• Collaborate with state and federal partners to prosecute complex white-collar criminal cases.
• Exercise meaningful autonomy in casework, supported by a collegial team.
• Provide advice to CSI's management regarding insurance and securities cases.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of job‑related experience.
• Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
• Membership in good standing in the State Bar of Montana, or ability to obtain membership by an agreed‑upon date.
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or more years of experience, including experience serving as lead counsel at trial.
• Experience with insurance or securities law.
